Self Attack and Anger

In this famous scene from Fawlty Towers, a TV show starring John Cleese, Basil Fawlty expresses his anger at his car! Its brilliantly done.

How many of us feel that frustration when life isn’t going well?

The car represents yourself, so are you caught in self attack?

My mentor Chuck Spezzano explains that anger often shows up as anger directed at a specific person or situation; it can also show itself as a continuous series of mistaken choices about anger.

I quote:-When there is anger around us, it reflects our own anger. It is an attempt to control someone, using the emotional manipulation of aggression or withdrawal. Anger may burn white hot or ice cold. It holds us or others back. We are trapped in the conspiracy because we feel justified in being angry. The anger hides a deeper emotion that we are afraid to face. The end result is that we avoid stepping forward.

He asks:-Who or what are you angry at? How have you been expressing your anger?

Anger comes from an internal conflict.

At a subconscious level, you have chosen for a person or situation to be the way they are, because it allows you to express your buried anger.

The mistaken purpose for having a person or situation be this way is hidden, as is the choice you made for it to happen. This allows you to take out your aggression on someone else; however, whenever you attack yourself, you attack another.

Anger begins with fear; it is an attempt of one part of your mind to control another.

How to work through this?

Our angry child is when Mars returns age 2

You are being asked to become aware of your inner conflict and integrate it. Interpersonally, it is crucial to learn to communicate without attacking, because attacking stops communication.

It does nothing to help your emotional maturity; anger is the adult equivalent of a tantrum.

In astrology, the tantrum begins age 2 when we have the transit of Mars returning to the same place it was when we born born.

The birth process was a heroic act, however as a baby we had no way of communicating our distress, apart from crying.

The terrible twos is when we have learned to say NO!

Being aware of this can be vitally important in our relationships as 2 is a relationship number.
